Graduate in Computer Science at Universidade da Coruña, Fernando Suárez Lorenzo (Ferrol, 1973) is one of the drivers of the Professional School of Enxeña in Informática de Galicia (CPEIG), an organ that has presided since its beginning, in December 2007. Since January 2018 he has been active in the Ourense Deputy, as Director of the Transparency and Open Government Area. Previously, since 2006, he had worked at the Axencia de Modernización Tecnoloxiica de Galicia (AMTEGA) of the Xunta de Galicia (Galicia’s regional government), as head of the Department of Systems; at Santiago de Compostela City Council, first as head of Systems and Communications and later as head of Innovation, leading the Smart iAgo project, Smart City's strategy in a Heritage City. He is currently also President of the General Council of Computer Engineering Colleges.
He also belongs to the Technical Committee of the Congress of Smart Cities and is a member of the Advisory Council of the Multisectoral Association of New Information and Communication Technologies (INEO), the Board of Trustees of the CITIC Foundation and the commissions of the Sector area AMETIC Information Technologies.
He is director of the Higher Course of Electronic Administration of the Escola Galega de Pública Administration (EGAP), as well as academic director of the Master's Degree in Project Management and Management of the IFFE business school. He also participates as a teacher in different university master's degrees from the universities of Santiago, A Coruña and Vigo and the University Center of Defense.
He has received several awards and recognitions, including the i3 National Career Award, the Galician Of the Year Award, as well as an acknowledgement of security awareness at the International Security Awards Cyber and Data Protection of ISMS Forum Spain.
