Angel García, Father Angel, was boen in La Rebollada (Mieres, Asturias) on March 11, 1937. He became a priest at the age of 24 and founded La Cruz de los Angeles (along with Angel Silva), essentially dedicated to the care of orphaned children and later became Messengers of Peace (1962). So far, more than 50,000 children have passed through the reception houses of Messengers achieving a better future. Since 2015 Father Angel, diocesan priest, has been in charge of the Church of San Antón (c/ Hortaleza, Madrid), open 24 hours a day and that gives shelter and comfort to those most in need, in addition to providing them with breakfast, wifi, coffee, solidarity brush, bathroom... He was given the Prince of Asturias award of Concordia (1994) and was candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017. Messengers of Peace is present in more than 50 countries and serves disadvantaged sectors: children, minors, families, at-risk women, the elderly, people at risk of social exclusion, refugees and developing countries.
